Despite the Super Mario Odyssey hype, Nintendo is doubling down quite literally on Zelda this month with two new bundles — just in time for Black Friday. More like… Green Friday now, right? (Nintendo are actually dubbing it “Legendary Friday”) This takes the form of the new The Legend of Zelda 2DS bundle, and a new edition of Breath of the Wild: the Explorer’s Edition.

The Zelda 2DS takes the form of a green with yellow accents OG 2DS. At an RRP of $79.99 it pretty much mimicks the same priced New Super Mario Bros. bundle. It comes with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D already installed onto the system. It’s always good to see affordable bundles of great games and great systems, which has always been the game plan with the thick, non-foldable orginal styled 2DSes.

St. Patrick’s Day starts November this year.

The next item on Nintendo new Zelda menu is a little unusual. The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild Explorer’s Edition isn’t actually super exploratory, though it is good value and an excellent entry point to Breath of the Wild for new Switch owners or those bizarre few that don’t have it already. The strange ommission being the lack of Season Pass in the bundle, after the first of the two packs is already released, and one month before the big piece of story DLC drops.

Still, at a $59.99 RRP, the Explorer’s Edition is comfortably the same price as the RRP for the base game, so you can’t argue with that. Coming with a copy of the regular game, a 100 page “Explorer’s Guide”, and a 2-sided map, it’s a nice little package. The lack of Season Pass is just a bit weird, though, isn’t it?

But, that’s a nice couple of gifts sorted. Especially if you’ve got kids who haven’t boarded the Zelda train yet in life. Get on that.

“Between Nintendo Switch, Super NES Classic Edition, all the systems in the Nintendo 3DS family and all of the fun games available for these systems, shoppers will have multiple options for their wish lists this year. Our Black Friday deals are a great value for people looking to pick up gifts for the Nintendo fans in their lives.” – Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s Senior VP of Sales & Marketing

Both of these bundles will be available in time for Black Friday on the 24th November.
